Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has once again critical to the 50 + 1 rule. The former Board of Directors of FC Bayern Munich calls for the _ picture on Sunday_ a debate that is “mandatory”.
With a view to the competitiveness and finances of the Bundesliga compared to the Premier League, Rummenigge spoke out for a “reputable and more emotionless discussion about the 50 + 1 rule”.
The rule that investors or donors are not allowed to take over the majority of a club, does not exist in England. According to the 66-year-old, this should decide for each club itself. “We should at least debate this opportunity to make the Bundesliga more attractive and exciting,” says Rummenigge.
The Bundesliga Hinke’s financially significantly behind, criticized Rummenigge: “Especially in the TV foreign marketing, the English are all of them.” In England, clubs in three years would take 4.8 billion euros alone because of the TV rights. The German clubs, on the other hand, “only” 160 million euros annually.
Because abroad would interest “only the top and not who descends in Germany”. By abolishing the much-discussed rule, there might be a more interesting struggle at the top again: “Especially the austere traditional associations, which partly play today in the second and third leagues, the chance to gain in importance again.”
Rummenigge: less tradition, more innovation “

Rummenigge had already asked the 50 + 1 rule several times in the past. Now those responsible asked to have the courage to “make us a little less tradition and venture more innovation”.
